Witten Barn Reviews
Another Amazing Stay at the Barn
We had an amazing time at The Barn over the holiday weekend. Fenway loved getting warm by the fire and running around in the grass outside. We were lucky enough to have a warm day where we could sit by the pond and chat for an afternoon. We left Brooklyn exhausted and return rested but sad that it’s over.
Thanks again to everyone for making our stay memorable.
Witten Barn is Heaven!
Witten Barn is the closest thing to Paradise one can find in the Hudson Valley! The decor is peaceful, tasteful and relaxing. The view of the mountains and woods out of all the windows makes for total serenity. The walks around the area go by streams and interesting paths. I loved the gardens on the property with ponds, benches, artwork – a great place to meditate.
For sure I will go back!
Beautiful, Secluded, Perfect!
Witten Barn is a beautiful property, located in the heart of the Catskills, surrounded by lush forest and a rushing brook. My love and I stayed there in late autumn, peak foliage, and the views were stunning. The pond on the property is very peaceful as well. We heard and saw a Great Horned Owl as well, which was awesome. The kitchen is amazing (we cooked so many meals!), the bed is SUPER comfy (slept like a dream!), and the steam shower/bath is like going to a spa! The living room had a wonderful fireplace as well that was lovely to curl up to at night with some wine. The only critique we had was the open toilet area, which is walled off, but has no ceiling or door. We made it work, but this property would be perfect if that area were closed off!
Owner’s Response: We are always so grateful to our guests for their wonderful reviews. We take suggestions seriously as many who have returned to us know. The open toilette area is a European design and meant to be that way and was the vision of the owner and architect/designer. The toilette is not in the main bathroom tub or shower area. It is totally separate and around the corner. The owner spends a goodly amount of time in Europe as do many of our guests, and this design is fairly well-known along with the beautiful bidet we provide as well.
A Weekend Getaway
We arrived late at night to a welcoming light by the front door. Anyone that has been in a wooded area like this knows how dark it can get at night, and having the presence of mind to leave the light on for late-arriving guests is certainly something to appreciate.
We walked up the spiral staircase and immediately realized that this is going to be a comfortable stay. The furniture arrangement really opened up the space, and the lighting was tastefully arranged to not disturb the beauty of the room. The kitchen was immaculate, with what appeared to be almost brand new appliances. Everything was laid out nicely, allowing for a very pleasant and efficient cooking experience.
Continuing up the spiral staircase brought us to the bedroom. Again, the open space and the cleanliness was very much welcomed. The steam shower/deep soaking tub was wonderful. We did not get to soak in the tub, but the shower was superb. Like the rest of house, it was spacious and the water pressure was outstanding.
The next morning we awoke to views of the mountains and the pond. The large open windows afforded us the type of a view you don’t get living in a densely populated area, so it was nice to wake up to all that space and light.
The grounds were very well maintained and the pond was a nice spot to enjoy a little down time and have a cup of morning coffee. Even got to watch a couple of fairly large fish come up to the surface to feast on a few water bugs that were floating about.
Overall, this property is very spacious, very bright, and very well maintained. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, a number of antique stores, a supermarket, and even a unique furniture place that sells robot sculptures made from re-purposed items and coffee tables made out of tree trunks.
If you’re visiting Woodstock or Phoenicia, or if you are just looking for a quiet getaway, then this place is perfect for you.

Great Get Away
Great open space, lots of natural light – especially in the morning, quiet property, beautiful pond and close to lots of hiking and some beautiful small towns (like Woodstock).

Everything from beginning to end of my family’s stay at the Witten Barn was a magical and wonderful experience. Lee Anne could not have been more accommodating and there was a welcome basket upon arrival. The Barn is renovated beautifully and has great views of a pond below. There was great fishing, BBQing, exploring and simply relaxing and taking in the beauty of it all. We will definitely be back!
The property is beautiful. Perfectly nestled near a creek and overlooking the pond. Lee Anne was wonderful to work with as well as Eric and were able to accommodate me last minute. We felt so welcome (and so did our dog!)We were also very impressed with the contemporary interior and luxurious amenities! And the spa like steam bathroom was amazing. We will definitely be back!

Witten Barn – The Perfect, Romantic Getaway!
After months of planning a winter wedding in Saratoga Springs, NY, and our honeymoon not until June, my wife Amanda and I decided we still needed a little “mini-moon” to finally get some much needed relaxation, peace and quite.
Let’s start with the property before getting moving on to the Barn itself. When Amanda and I arrived, there was close to two feet of fresh snow on the ground, and the Barn could not have looked any more beautiful. Set before a beautiful mountain landscape, Witten Barn immediately impressed with the gorgeous property and vast, open land.
We pulled into a perfectly plowed driveway and made our way into the house with ease. What we found couldn’t have been any more perfect for three nights of complete, isolated relaxation. The mudroom when you enter the house was perfect for keeping wet, snowy boots and jackets from dirtying the rest of the Barn. We then made our way up the impressive spiral staircase, and arrived on the first floor.
WOW! Immediately we were blown away by the beautiful views from the huge glass windows surrounding the entire room. There is a nice size fireplace with a built in pizza stove built into the chimney as well. Looking around, we were thrilled to find a huge dining table, a perfectly functional kitchen (we LOVE to cook) and wet bar with a large wine fridge. Everything was in spotless condition, and the pictures on the website don’t even do justice to just how charming the barn truly is.
Making your way up to the bedroom, we were again blown away by the breath taking views from the beautiful large windows surrounding the room. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, and with the presence of a gas fireplace, we knew we had picked exactly the getaway we needed for nothing but a romantic, relaxing getaway. Then, we saw the bathroom. A massive stone tub/spa with a waterfall like shower fixture and steam feature is hands down the showstopper of the Barn. If you like soaking in a bath, this is not something to be missed. The only thing we found to be a little less traditional, was the absence of a door to the actual bathroom itself. However, it is designed well enough that the sink, mirror and shower almost feel like they are in a different room than the bathroom.
All in all, we couldn’t have been any happier with Witten Barn. It is absolutely perfect for a romantic, relaxing getaway!

What a Serene Place!
My husband and two dogs spent the last week of the year here. It was a great space. A lot of attention to detail. Bright and spacious yet easy to heat due to floors with radiant heat as well as a regular thermostat. There are also two working fire places that make things even more cozy. The space consists of two floors each of which is a very large area. The first floor is a living area with comfortable seating, a large table for big dinner parties and a state of the art kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils pots/pans. The second floor is a bedroom suite tastefully decorated with a bathroom that features a stone tub/sauna. Tons of light on both floors!! The property is conveniently located to restaurants/shops/wine stores. It’s secluded and spacious and our dogs loved it!!! I would highly recommend this space to anyone who is looking for a quiet, romantic getaway!

Luxurious Weekend in the Catskills
This was our second time at Witten Pond. Last time we stayed at the Lily of the Valley which is very country and cozy. We decided to try the Barn this time and although it was very different we weren’t disappointed.
The Barn is spacious and light with big airy windows and amazing views of the pond and the fall foliage. The feel is very contemporary from the ultra modern kitchen to the spa bathroom. There’s also a great fireplace.
We could easily have spent our whole time in the barn but we took advantage of some of the nearby restaurant recommendations and explored some of the local towns.

Fantastic Labor Day Weekend
My husband, our frenchie Fenway and I just spent an amazing long weekend at The Barn. The space is warm, yet contemporary and extremely spacious. There is original art displayed throughout that makes the barn very special. If you like to cook this is the kitchen. The stove and range are unsurpassed and every amenity you need is there. There is even a stove above the fireplace that can be used to cook pizzas, etc. We didn’t get to try that this time but we will when we return. There are also two grills outside – one gas and one coal. Living in NYC we miss having such luxuries so we spent the weekend cooking and grilling out and didn’t visit any of the local restaurants.
Above all this is an oasis. The view of the pond from the couch is sublime and the grounds are very well manicured. The first day we sat on the couch and watched the fountain spin in the pond for a very long time, it was extremely relaxing. On the 2nd floor there is an amazing tub/steam/shower. No doubt about it, this is a spa experience. Robes are provided and there is even a heated rack to warm the towels in the winter.
But most importantly our puppy Fenway loved it. He got to chase chipmunks, a frog, butterflies and everything else on the grounds. We went for long walks and the area around Witten Pond is beautiful with a babbling brook and homes set back in the woods. The property was very easy to get to from the city and it was also a quick drive to Woodstock.
We can’t wait to get back after such a perfect holiday.

Great Getaway Weekend in the Catskills!
The property was absolutely majestic and we had an amazing weekend. We loved the house so much we barely ventured into town! We were able to take advantage of the fireplace and tub spa indoors. We had an amazing weekend and look forward to renting the property again in the near future.
